We wish we didn't have to update this space. It's 2025 and we really should be past bombing innocent people. But here we are.
Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine is still ongoing (February 24th, 2022 - Today)
and
The Israel-Hamas War is also ongoing for over a year now (October 7th, 2023 - Today)
Update: As of January 19th, 2025, there is a six-week ceasefire in effect. This is a positive step but there is much more support needed for all affected by the conflict.
We're not asking you to choose a side or a country to support. This isn't about politics or religion or anything else.
This is about people in Ukraine and Gaza who are trapped, cut off from basic human rights like water, food, shelter, safety.
People who didn't ask for war and don't support it.
They are dying.
We can't stop the wars - billionaires gonna billionaire, we guess.
But we can raise awareness and, hopefully, funds for charities that are on the ground in Ukraine and Gaza and all over the world, wherever they're needed.
World Central Kitchen and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
These charities provide life-saving medical care and food to those who need it most. Idling In the Impala donates to them as much as we can and we ask you to do the same, if you are able.
It is our dearest hope that these conflicts come to an end as soon as possible and we can remove this section.
Personal Causes:
These are charities that Sandra and Kasey have chosen to champion and signpost, as they align with things both co-hosts feel are important.

For Those In the US: Educate and Empower Yourself, Find Ways to Take Action:
"From what I've learned, ACLU is a great resource to understand and learn about your rights under the US Constitution if you live in America. This organization does a tremendous amount of work that most people aren't even aware of to protect civil rights. In our current political climate, this is even more imperative.
NAMI provides information that normalizes and removes the stigma many suffering with mental illness feel. My journey living with anxiety and depression wouldn't have evolved into what it is today without more understanding and resources available online like NAMI.
RAINN is an important lifeline for people dealing with the effects of abuse. I've learned that TRAUMA is TRAUMA. Finding safe places to reach out and talk about and use tools to move out of the past is necessary for a life of possibility."
Support Basic Human Rights - American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
Prioritize Your Mental Health - National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
Thrive (Not Just Survive) After Abuse - Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN)
Reproductive Rights For All - Center for Reproductive Rights, Reproductive Freedom for All

LGBTQ+ Talking Help:
"It's 2025 and there are still people out there who are made to feel like they should be dead before they should be gay. That is unacceptable to me. While the big guys fight the courts and the bigots, I want to shout out some places LGBTQ+ people, especially the youth, can find someone to talk to and someone to listen to them. I've been a queer kid and if I can help just one other kid not feel the way I did, then I've achieved something."
Switchboard LGBT - UK only
The Trevor Project - USA and Global
Please remember, only donate if you have the means to do so.
These charities are there if you personally need them, and if you are able to donate to help them keep helping others, that would be amazing.
